Freeway | Activision;Zellers;CCE (Activision) | 1981 | This game is not as "simple" as it looks! Select any one of eight traffic patterns inspired by the most treacherous traffic you'll ever encounter on the nation's highways. Traffic flow varies from a few slow-moving autos to frantic rush hour intensity, complete with blaring horns and roaring engines - everything except exhaust. Test your agility, cunning and courage by helping your "daredevil chicken" across the freeway. You get a point for each crossing, but you'll need quick reflexes and great timing to make it across without getting hit. Freeway by Activision is unlike any video game you've ever seen. It's fast, tricky and traffic-jammed with fun!*** [48]***Frogger clone This game was also published under the titles 'Freeway Chicken' (you play a chicken that wants to cross the street) and 'Freeway Rabbit' (you play a rabbit that wants to cross the street).***David Crane came up with the idea when he saw someone attempting to cross Chicago's Lake Shore Drive during the worst traffic of the year, do to the Consumer Electronic Show that day. Someone at Activision objected to people being struck by cars. As would everyone, especially the players, since the object was to avoid the cars. Anywho chickens were acceptable for running over and replaced the human characters. 'Bloody Human' is the name of the original, unpublished version with humans, which is available for play on emulators. Mr Crane insists that this game is different from [game=Frogger]Frogger[/game]. Frog Pond | Atari | 1982 | CX2665 prototype cartridge. Developed in 1982. An almost exact copy of [[gameid:99414 Mattel's Frog's and Flies]]. Frogger | Parker Brothers | 1982 | Leapin' Frogger! Home may look like it's only a hop, skip, and a jump away, but looks can be deceiving. First, there's a dangerous highway to hop across, full of fast-moving cars and trucks. Then there's a swirling river to leap, full of frog-eating creatures. How's Frogger going to get home safely? By letting you hop him on his way. Guide Frogger safely through this perilous journey, and you'll jump for joy!*** [48]*** [48]***There are two different Frogger games for the Atari 2600. They are completely different conversations of the arcade game. Late in the life of the 2600, Atari planned to re-release this title under their own label as they had done with some Coleco and other Parker Bros. games. It would have been CX26147 in their catalog. | labelimagesubject |
